NFL .... New Fabulous Layout

You see, in the Sheik house hold, EVERYTHING is put on hold for football season.(**ya,ya**Go Greenbay!) When I initially decorated my house I purposely put the TV upstairs in the office with hopes that Jordan and I would have friends over often and we would build relationships rather then build a list of have-to-watch tv shows. This idea worked great...for about a month! Come September our marriage was rudely uninterrupted by none other then football season. Now don't get me wrong I really do enjoy watching football on Sunday afternoons in the fall, with a yummy chip dip and a fall beer in hand. What I do mind is that the only TV is plugged in is upstairs in our office, which really isn't an office yet - it is nothing more then a catch all room filled with unpacked boxes and NO seating! That's right - NO SEATING! we sit on a pallet of pillows on top of mattress on the floor! Not to mention this is the ONLY place in our entire 2200 sqft home my husband wants to be :( --- So I have come up with an idea to remedy this! I have come up with my own NFL season. Except my NFL stands for a NEW FABULOUS LAYOUT!

I decided I am going to make a new place to show case our TV. I am going to use a buffet and place it up against the wall directly under the where the TV will be placed. The buffet will look something like this:
STORNÄS Buffet, antique stain Width: 64 1/8 " Depth: 18 7/8 " Height: 35 3/8 " Width: 163 cm Depth: 48 cm Height: 90 cm
The antique stain on the wood will go well with the character of the old farm house.
On either end of the buffet I will place Lighting fixtures to frame the TV. To add decorative detail A grouping of a floral display can be placed in the center. If anyone wants to do this themselves make sure your arrangement is close to the same width as your TV. Proportions are so important. This set up makes it super simple to exchange the center piece seasonally to keep your decor festive.  I'll face a love seat and very comfy chaise lounges towards the TV and presto ~

Here is what it will look like when it is finished:

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice!

There are not many things better in life on a cold, windy, fall morning then a Starbucks triple grande, skim, two pump, pumpkin spice latte WITH whip!!
pumpkin spice latte

Although Starbucks sounds great I have a different idea for a pumpkins this weekend.

I'll be honest over the past several weeks as we prepped to open the costume store our house was  forgotten about. Which means NOTHING got vacuumed, nothing was dusted and even the flowers were left to wilt and die. The worst part of all I didn't just let the flowers die, the beautiful jar clouded over- I picked it up yesterday and was afraid the life of the flowers was exchanged for another living creature at the bottom of the vase! **SCARRY** Well you see My wonderful In-Laws decided to come up this weekend to visit us and to come see the costume store. I was so mortified that I had let these flowers just dry out and die and they were going to see how bad of a house-wife I'd been! Well, I placed the flowers in on the stove while I pulled out a nice bottle of wine and wrote my husband a sweet note that went something like this "Good After noon hun! I love you so much and cant wait to see you - I pulled this bottle out so you could chill it for your parents and us this evening, I love you lots... see you tonight xoxo" --- the problem was I FORGOT TO TELL HIM TO THROW OUT THE FLOWERS - because he is a guy, and doesn't care about things such as dead mold growing flowers, he just let them sit there for his parents to see!!!! To be honest I was quite embarrassed when they beat me to the house last night - At dinner I admitted we all had seen the flower pot of death sitting on my stove, luckily I have been dying to try make a new floral arrangement from the fall harvest - that's right I'm going to make a floral arrangement using a pumpkin. I explained my idea for the pumpkin floral display to my mother. She too was excited -

So we gathered our visual inspiration

I love the white pumpkin - absolutely beautiful

This is a more simple pumpkin - Most of these items could be found in most yards

Simple can Sometimes make the BIGGEST Impacts

Okay - its great right - now how do you do it ? okay easy here is your step by step to completing a beautiful floral pumpkin :

Supplies:
  • Pumpkin
  • Floral foam
  • Knife (for cutting open the pumpkin)
  • Scoop (cleaning out pumpkin guts - save guts for yummy treats)
  • Flowers
  • Bowl of water (to soak the floral foam in before arranging the flowers)
** I find it most easy to go to a local grocery store to pick out a beautiful bouquet - an arrangement you like by its self will only make you more happy in a pumpkin**

Depending on how full you want your floral display to look you may want to purchase some filler flowers such as hydrangea, baby's breath and berries to fill it out.

Cut the floral foam and stick it in the pumpkins and fill will water-
they will soften and bloat and will be ready to have
the flowers arranged

Keep the tops - you can use floral wire to incorporate the
top into your arrangement.

No matter how you choose to arrange the your flowers you will be proud of you work!

It's off to pick pumpkins and flowers.... I'll add photos of our flower arrangements later...........
Happy Arranging!

Hello. My Name Is Liz.

For anyone who might want to read my blog there are a few things I must warn you about. The first is that I am horrible at spelling and grammar. The second is that I can be rather random. So As I start to blog please forgive me if I spell something wrong or if I skip around in my thoughts. I will try and keep things as short and to the point as I can.

With that said let me introduce myself. My name is Liz I am happily married to a wonderful man named Jordan and we have a beautiful 18 month old baby girl. Her name is Gucci, she is an 85 lb German Shepherd.

This is Jor and I
~I married in to the Packers - Go Pack~

This is Gucci - she is our pride and joy :)

I absolutely love being a wife, and I love being a puppy-mommy. By trade-degree I am an interior designer I currently own a Halloween Costume store that is seasonal with plans to open a clothing and home accessory boutique. Although it rhymes and sounds cheesy I truly have a passion for all things fashion. I love to surround myself with beautiful people and beautiful things. One of the most beautiful things to me is a Sunday afternoon. For those of us raised in the south most Sunday's are filled with church going, large lunches and lounging around our homes with friends and those we love. Even if you are not a Church goer, Sunday afternoons are kept sacred for relaxing and spending time on one's self.

Sundays are so nice - so why should it only be one day a week? In MY world - I welcome Sunday as an Everyday! I CHOOSE to surround myself with people and things that make me feel warm, welcome and loved. If I look at something and it makes me smile, I graciously welcome it into my life!
